FAQ
-
What is the School of Bee Scholarship Foundation?
The School of Bee Scholarship Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students to pursue higher education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by providing equitable, merit-based scholarships.
-
What is your mission?
Our mission is to break down financial barriers for students, ensuring they can access the life-changing opportunities that HBCUs provide. We do this by awarding $5,000 scholarships to deserving students each year and fostering mentorship connections to help them succeed academically, professionally, and personally.
-
Why is supporting HBCUs important?
HBCUs have been cornerstones of Black excellence, leadership, and cultural heritage for generations. These institutions produce some of the nation’s most influential Black leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals. By supporting students at HBCUs, we are investing in the future of Black communities and promoting equity in higher education.
-
Who is eligible to apply for a scholarship?
Our scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend an HBCU. More details on eligibility, application requirements, and deadlines can be found on our APPLY page.
-
How much scholarship funding do you provide?
We currently have an annual goal of raising $15,000 to provide $5,000 scholarships to 2 students per year while meeting our operational needs. We plan to increase our fundraising goal by 10% annually.
-
Do you offer support beyond scholarships?
Yes! In addition to financial assistance, we are committed to:
- Mentorship opportunities with various professionals.
- Networking connections with HBCU alumni and business leaders.
- Career and leadership development resources.
-
Can I donate to the School of Bee Scholarship Foundation?
Yes! However, due to state charitable solicitation laws, we are currently only able to accept donations from residents of these states:
Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
Once our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is approved, we will be able to accept donations from all states.
-
Are my donations tax-deductible?
Our IRS 501(c)(3) application is pending approval, so donations may not yet be tax-deductible. Once approved, donations may be retroactively tax-deductible from our formation date. We recommend consulting a tax professional for guidance.
-
How are donations used?
100% of donations go toward funding scholarships, mentorship programs, student support initiatives, and foundation operation expenses. We are committed to transparency and will provide financial reports detailing how funds are allocated upon request.
-
How can I donate?
You can contribute by visiting our DONATE page. If you live outside of the states where we can currently accept donations, we appreciate your patience and look forward to expanding nationwide once our IRS status is finalized.
